My wife is an educator, and I am the father of two young children who are still in school, so I understand the need to put our students first, as well as ensuring our schools have the supplies they need to do their jobs. For too long, the Texas Legislature has played a game of poker with our children. They rely on hoping the Texas economy continues to trudge forward all while they force more bureaucratic tape on teachers and force standardized testing onto our students. When elected, I promise to support the following: Support permanent Teacher pay increases Demand Transparency in Testing and Oppose any new testing standards (HB 2002) Demand the State pay its fair share into education Support revamping the way we fund education Support Smaller Classroom sizes Oppose efforts to defund out public education system Most importantly, I will support our teachers and students.
